Small Ship Cruises
Small ship cruise lines offer the intimate experience found at a bed and breakfast establishment. The focus is on the destination, “what’s outside the ship,” rather than on the ship as the primary experience. Activities center on educational pursuits and dress is casual for comfort rather than glamour. Meals are served home-style during a single-seating. The food is high quality and usually highlights regional delicacies. The number of passengers (200 or fewer) encourages personal interaction between both crew and fellow passengers. Service is individualized and welcoming. Staterooms have all the key facilities and with the variety of small ships available today any level of cruise amenities requested can be supplied. On a large vessel, there’s little connection with the sea. On a small ship, the sea is ever present, a magical, romantic companion during the entire voyage, and an integral part of the experience.
